As the Curriculum Director of Somerset Academy of Las Vegas, Gayle Jefferson’s focus is on student achievement and quality of instruction in our classrooms. Supportive parents, compassionate and knowledgeable teachers, and uplifting leaders are needed to be at the foundation of every well-rounded child. At Somerset Academy, we pride ourselves in striving for high academics, leadership skills, good character, and a desire to render service to our community. Mrs. Jefferson have been an educator for the past 28 years as a teacher, literacy specialist, and school administrator. The first 21 years of her career were spent with the Clark County School District, and she is proud to have opened up the first Somerset Academy in Las Vegas in the fall of 2011. She served as the principal of both the Somerset North Las Vegas campus and the Somerset Sky Pointe elementary campus before taking the Curriculum Director position. Mrs. Jefferson has also had the privilege of serving on school accreditation teams both in Las Vegas and in Saudi Arabia. Having been born and raised in South Dakota, Mrs. Jefferson has seen many remarkable changes occur in Las Vegas over the years. She has been married to her husband, Bill, for the past 24 years and have two daughters – Ciara and Serena. Since moving to Las Vegas, Mrs. Jefferson has been provided with many opportunities to grow both professionally and personally. She has been blessed to have met many wonderful friends and colleagues in my past. In her free time, she likes to read, cook, hike, and travel. Her family enjoys going hiking at Red Rock Canyon or Mount Charleston on the weekends, going to the movies, out to dinner, or spending time with friends playing board games. |
