Travis Mizer - Chairperson Travis is currently the Director of Risk Management for Bellagio/Park MGM Hotel and Casino. He is responsible for overseeing the Risk Management programs for both properties, ensuring the resorts are in compliance with safety legislation and industry practices. Travis also acts as a liaison to legal counsel and insurance providers to prevent asset loss. Travis and his wife Meghan also own and operate a Financial Services Company in the Las Vegas Valley. They service over 120 local businesses throughout Clark County. Travis is a 2002 graduate of Walsh University in Canton Ohio with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Marketing. He is married to his wonderful wife Meghan a Wedding Photographer and Substitute Teacher. They have 2 children Trae and Quincie who attend the Skye Canyon Campus.
LeNora Bredsguard - Vice Chairperson
LeNora comes to the Somerset family with over 20 years of experience in the field of education. Her informal career began as a volunteer with the First Step, Early Childhood program where she conducted parent informational classes, then as an active member of the Wengert Elementary School Family Auxiliary (PTO), and later serving as President. She formerly began her career as a Special Education teacher, Kindergarten Teacher, Literacy Specialist, and Project Facilitator for K-12 Literacy Curriculum and Professional Development Department. LeNora is currently a Principal with the Clark County School District and works part-time for NWEA as a content designer for professional learning.
LeNora received her Associate of Arts degree from Dixie College in St. George Utah, a dual Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Special Education, and two Master’s degrees from UNLV in Curriculum and Instruction and Urban Leadership. She also received certifications from Nevada State College, Touro University, and The American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
She has four children, two of which served in the United States Military, one that served a full-time mission in the Texas Lubbock Mission, and one child that taught her the importance of laughter, kindness, and supporting children with special needs. LeNora recently completed the Camino de Santiago where she hiked across Northern Spain . Her hobbies include spending time with her adorable grandson, hiking, camping, reading, and traveling with friends and family.
John Bentham - Secretary
John is the cofounder and President/CEO of Ivory Star Productions, a full service theatrical and community event production company based in Las Vegas, Nevada. The company produces long-standing and award-winning Las Vegas hits including Marriage Can Be Murder, Broadway’s Defending the Caveman and Laughternoon, Starring Adam London. In addition to shows on the strip and downtown, Ivory Star produces Glittering Lights at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, which has become an annual holiday tradition for tens of thousands. Past productions John has been involved with include: The Lion King Las Vegas, David Copperfield, Forbidden Vegas, Gordie Brown at the Golden Nugget and Country Superstars Tribute. In addition, John has facilitate performances and productions of international super stars including The Eagles’ Glenn Frey and Joe Walsh, Huey Lewis and the News, Earth, Wind and Fire and Bill Gaither Vocal Band/Homecoming Tour. He has received “The Mickey” from Disney Theatrical for his work with The Lion King Las Vegas as well as the Distinguished Alumni Award from his college. John and his wife, Shannon, were a finalist in the Distinguished Small Business Awards, “Don’t Forget to Share” by Nevada Business Magazine. John received a dual degree in Business Administration with honors as well as Communication Arts with a minor in Psychology/Sociology from Austin College in Sherman, Texas. John and his wife Shannon have been married for nearly 15 years and have five children. He enjoys skiing, hiking and camping with his family. Matt Hurley - Board Treasurer Matt has been a practicing CPA since 2019, and has worked with Eide Bailly as an Audit Manager since 2020. He was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. He earned his Master of Science in Accountancy from University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and has held various accounting positions since his graduation in 2010.
Matt has been married for 14 years, and is the father of five children. Three of those children have attended Somerset Academy, and the remaining two will as soon as they are old enough. Matt enjoys spending time with his family, and attending his children’s sporting events, which includes cheerleading, volleyball and soccer.
Sarah McClellan - Member Sarah grew up in Logan, Utah, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Family & Human Development from Utah State University. After having her first child, Sarah stopped working outside of the home, and became a stay-at-home mom. She spent numerous hours volunteering in her kids classrooms, and was “room mom” nearly every year. After 15 years at home, Sarah decided to go back to work. She is currently a Special Education Resource Teacher at a local elementary school, and is also pursuing her Master’s Degree in Special Education. Sarah is married to her favorite person, Eric, and they have three children, Megan, Jackson & Sadie. All three of her children have attended Somerset schools since the first one opened in Nevada in 2011. Sarah enjoys reading, riding her bike, traveling with her family, singing loudly in the car, and eating out. Sarah loves Somerset and truly believes in their vision of providing equitable, high-quality education for all students. Renee Fairless - Member My passion for education is evident when you look over the past thirty-six years. I began my career in Dade County, Florida teaching in an at-risk environment. I relocated to Nevada and began my twenty-seven year career with the Clark County School District. I developed a highly successful psychology program. I taught Advanced Placement Psychology, International Baccalaureate Psychology, and I developed one of the first dual credit programs for the College of Southern Nevada. I received numerous awards and recognition. The last ten years have allowed me to have a perspective from outside the classroom as I served as an elementary counselor and administrator. I believe that all of my experiences have prepared me and led me to - Mater Academy of Nevada where I am currently the Lead Principal of four campuses. Mater Academy of Nevada opened in 2014 with a diverse student population of three hundred students. The following year we moved into a brand-new building and increased our enrollment to over seven hundred students. Today we have grown to four campuses with over three thousand students from Prek-10 grade. Mater Academies are some of the highest performing FRL and EL schools in the state of Nevada. Two of those buildings have 5-star middle schools and free federally funded 5-star Prek programs, which are the highest performing in our area. Both schools were also awarded Rising Star status from the State of Nevada for the 2018-2019 school year. Matt Morris - Member Matt is a practicing attorney at Holland & Hart LLP where he focuses on administrative law, civil litigation, and legislative and government affairs. His public sector experience includes serving as Legislative Director for former Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval, and as a speechwriter and district representative for former U.S. Senator Dean Heller. Matt also served as a law clerk to Justice Ron Parraguirre at the Nevada Supreme Court. He served as President of the UNLV Boyd Law School Alumni Association, and as a board member for Jobs for Nevada's Graduates. He was recently recognized as the Second Judicial District Lawyer in the Library Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year. Matt is a proud parent of two Somerset Academy students. He enjoys spending time with his family, exploring Lake Tahoe, and cheering on the Las Vegas Raiders. |
